Notice that when you shoot at an oblique angle to your subject how narrow the depth of field can be. One of the main questions is, is there a focal point to the picture? And, does the focal point coincide with the sharpest point of the picture? Using selective focus is an important tool for photographers but it has to mean something there has to be a reason for it. I find the most successful image to be the one of the porch railing the fourth one down.
The bottom image would work well for another assignment coming up called light and shadow.
